East Michigan Native Plants, LLC

East Michigan Native Plants, LLC, is a State licensed and inspected nursery, growing pesticide-free Michigan genotype native plants for gardening, education, and restoration.  Owners Angela and Jim Nelson began nursery operations in the spring of 2018.  The nursery now grows over 100 species of Michigan genotype wildflowers, grasses, and sedges.

 

Located in Durand, Michigan, East Michigan Native Plants, LLC, has supplied native plants to Michigan’s parks, nature preserves, and schools, as well as to homeowners, in many communities.  In addition, East Michigan Native Plants, LLC, has provided thousands of native plants for local area native plant sale fundraisers via their specialized and one-of-a-kind “Mobile Native Plant Nursery”.

 

East Michigan Native Plants, LLC, boasts an informative and resourceful full-service website at EastMichNatives.com.  Native plants can be purchased online, with pre-season ordering available.  Online plant orders are filled May 15-Oct 1 each season.  Plants can be shipped, delivered, or picked up at the nursery.

 

On-site nursery shopping is also available by appointment from May 15 - Oct 1.  Appointments may be scheduled at the website.

 

Nursery owner Angela Nelson received her bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Science from Michigan State University in 2018 as she was beginning her nursery operations.  She has over 30 years of experience in the green industry working and volunteering with plants, gardens, and landscaping.  Angela is also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and attributes her local Native American heritage for her undying passion about and devotion to Michigan’s native flora and fauna.  Jim Nelson is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and enjoys working at the nursery part-time.


In addition to growing native plants in the nursery, East Michigan Native Plants, LLC, also provides consultations, workshops, presentations, classes, and educational hikes, as well as on-location botanical inventory of plant species and invasive species identification.
